“As Queensland’s first Grammar School, Ipswich Grammar School opened its doors in 1863, and boasts just under 1200 students and 190 staff.
The previous I.T. Manager Ray Pearson had done lots of research into possibilities and established a framework or readiness for these possibilities. This included a long standing partner in BES IT Systems to take us there. In September 2006 with some ‘tired’ technology and a new ICT Services Manager, Ipswich Grammar School looked to replace and extend the existing devices starting with teacher laptop/tablet pc program and additional computer rooms from the start of 2007. IGS seeks to integrate ICT into all subjects across the curriculum from Prep to Year 12, in an attempt to give the boys every chance to use technology in the “real world”.
There is a very high expectation of what we can deliver. The students, parents and teachers want to be able to achieve cutting edge software, on appropriate hardware to “do cool things”. Our customers have an enterprise level of expectation to achieve with a medium size business budget, which where the total cost of ownership approach that BES IT Systems supports is so integral.
Discussions with Marketing Manager Dylan Mapp assisted in formulating a three to five year formal plan for the school, across many aspects including storage, laptops, tablet pc’s, servers and in infrastructure to support how the jigsaw would fit together for IGS over the next three plus years to our 150 year celebration in 2013.

These purchases and relationships have allowed us to work smarter in delivery learning, content management, learning management and community systems to support the greater needs of IGS. “In mid-2008, The Bribie Island RSL and Citizens Memorial Club was seeking a reliable supplier of IT hardware and network/systems support due to The Club’s diversified requirements outgrowing the resources of our existing supplier. As we do not have the luxury of dedicated IT personnel on site, we were seeking a company who could become rapidly familiar with our existing software and deliver comprehensive and timely support both on-site and via help desk together with competitive hardware pricing.
Evaluation of several IT companies was undertaken and it became clear to us that BES’ reputation as a reliable supplier of hardware and networking solutions to other clubs and to the education market, would be well suited to our needs.
Since August 2008, BES have installed a new server, completed all software migration and an extensive review and re-configuration of our local network. Our Service Agreement with BES allows ample hours on-site and help desk support with the framework of the agreement. Monthly on-site service calls are always timely and any ad-hoc or urgent work has also been carried out with promised time frames. Quarterly reports provide detailed analysis of work carried out during the period.
